there are of issues related to using the social media (twitter, FB, etc), such as, being cool, being trend, being westernized (for the arab world), being hip hop, belong to the new generation..and so forth…but the main important and critical issue is : how to use them and for what reasons?
and that what information literacy about.. it is about the skills that individual acquire in order to be able to know what kind of information he or she should communicate with a certain social media. when and how to communicate these information. each tool has its own protocol and culture that should be taught and made it clear to users…
for example u cannot write an article and publish it on twitter. twitter is made to communicate one sentence at a time..writing article needs more than one sentence, that is why there are blogs…
when i follow some twitter-articles i feel lost. i cannot understand what the person wants to say unless i have to keep scrolling. and at the same time, i would miss what other would tweet..going back to check the others’ tweet, it would be a time and effort consuming, and twitter is made to be used to communicate ideas in the rushing modes of the new societies….
do people really read the manual that would come with the the social media?
